The Department of Otolaryngology of the Bogomolets National Medical University is located in 3 clinic facilities. Yuriy Volodymyrovych Mitin, Honored Scientist and Engineer of Ukraine, Doctor of Medicine, Professor, is a chair of the Department. Some of priority scientific and research guidelines of the chair are: ecological rhinology founded by Professor Oleksandr Mykolayovych Naumenko and hearing and vestibular functions in patients with various pathologies of middle and inner ear. The Department team is especially proud of having among them distinguished surgeon USSR State Prize Laureate, Professor Fedir Oleksiyovych Tyshko who is by right is considered to be the best surgeon laryngologist. The department members Liliya Romanivna Krynychko, Candidate of Medicine, and Yuliya Valeriyivna Dieyeva, associate professor, are among the first specialists from Ukraine who had had training outside Ukraine and put endoscopic rhinosurgery into clinical practice. The important contribution of the department members in resolving issues of specific diseases of upper respiratory tract should be highlighted specially: Valeriy Mykhaylovych Vasylyev, associate professor, defended his Doctor of Medicine thesis where he had resolved a problem of pathogenesis of such a serious disease of upper respiratory tract as ozena. Extended practical experience and powerful academic background enables the otolaryngology department members provide training to students and treatment to patients up to internationally accepted standards.
